Pokhara gets its first scheduled international route as flydubai sets a September start
flydubai is due to begin daily Dubai to Pokhara flights on 23 September 2026, the first regular scheduled international service at an airport that has handled almost only domestic traffic since it opened.

Nepal passes 690,000 foreign arrivals in the first seven months of 2026
Nepal Tourism Board figures put January to July arrivals at roughly 693,000, close to 7 percent up on the same stretch of 2025 and on course for the strongest year since the 2019 record.

Everest permit revenue hits a record after the climbing fee rose to $15,000
Nepal issued 464 fee-paying Everest permits in spring 2026 and collected around Rs1.01 billion, a historic high, after the royalty for foreign climbers on the standard route went from $11,000 to $15,000.

Solo trekkers can now get restricted area permits, but still need a licensed guide
A rule change effective 22 March 2026 dropped the two-person minimum for restricted area permits covering Manaslu, Upper Mustang, Dolpo and others. The mandatory licensed guide requirement has not changed.
